The General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level (O/L) examinations commenced today (17) across Sri Lanka, with 474,147 candidates registered to sit for the tests.
Of these, 398,182 are school candidates, while the remainder are private candidates.
The exams will be held at 3,663 centers islandwide and will conclude on March 26.
Examination Commissioner General Amit Jayasundara emphasized that candidates are strictly prohibited from carrying mobile phones, smartwatches, or any other communication devices into the examination halls.
Violators will face a five-year ban from future exams.
