Concessions granted to settle traffic fines

The Department of Post says a concessionary period will be granted to settle traffic fines that cannot be paid owing to the imposition of curfew.

Issuing a statement, the Post-Master General Ranjith Ariyaratne said the days during which curfew was imposed will be waived off when obtaining the fine from motorists.

The Post-Master General noted that practical issues have arisen in settling fines owing to curfew that has been imposed on the directives of health authorities.

The statement added that approval was granted for the concessions by the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance to the proposals put forth by the Acting Inspector General of Police and the Department of Post.
