A bus transporting parliament staff has toppled into a pond connected to the Diyawanna Oya, near the Parliament.

The accident had taken place near the T junction near the parliament complex this evening (20).

It is said that the driver had been unable to see the road clearly due to the heavy rains this evening.

Around 30 people had been travelling in the bus at that time but no one had been hurt, reports say.

The bus is attached to the SLTB depot in Thalangama and was plying to Hanwella.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', Director of the Parliament's Department of Communication - Shan Wijetunga said that the bus had commenced its trip ahead of the usual time today. However, it had turned around after being informed that some parliament staff were still inside the Parliament complex. The accident had taken place while on the way back to Parliament.
