GR recommends Wickramaratne to be appointed IGP Featured

It is reported that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has recommended to the Parliament to appoint C D Wickramaratne, who is currently serving as the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) , as the IGP.

He served as the Acting IGP for a period of one year and seven months.

It is said that the Parliament will be convened on Monday (23 Nov) evening to take a decision in this regard.

He ,who served in the police force for 33 years from 1986, has served in the National Intelligence Service for 9 years.

He has served as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in many parts of the country and he was serving as the DIG in Jaffna when the Muhamale battle was won in 2006. 

He has previously served as the Acting IGP 13 times.

He has been the Acting IGP since April 26, 2019 and has been the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Administration throughout the years.
