151 Parliamentarians voted in favour of the 2021 Budget while 52 votes were cast against it.

The 2021 Budget, the first of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna-led government was presented by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Tuesday.
According to the 2021 Budget speech delivered by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, estimated government revenue for 2021 is Rs.1,961 billion. The total expected government expenditure is Rs.3,525 billion.
Accordingly, the 2021 Budget defect will be Rs.1,564 billion or 9%. The government aims to achieve an economic growth of 5.5 percent in 2021 through the implementation of the 2021 Budget proposals.
Meanwhile, the third reading of the 2021 Appropriation Bill or the Committee Stage Debate will commence on Monday.
Members of Parliament on Monday will debate on the Expenditure Heads of the President, Office of the Prime Minister, Judges of the Superior Courts, Independent Commissions and Parliament.
16 days have been allocated for the third reading debate including two Saturdays.
The Budget debate will take place between 10am and 5pm on Parliament sitting days.
The final vote on the 2021 Appropriation Bill will take place on the 10th of December at 5pm.
