Namal absent for his subject's debate Featured

The Sports Ministry expenditure head was taken up for debate during the reading of 2021 Appropriation Bill yesterday (28 Nov) and Opposition MPs have repeatedly questioned the non-participation of Namal Rajapaksa , the Minister of Youth and Sports, at the relevant debate.

At the beginning of the debate, the Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella questioned this.

In reply the Speaker informed the Parliament that Minister Namal Rajapaksa had not informed the parliament of his absence.

He said he is aware that Namal Rajapaksa is ill and did not know if he would attend the parliament.

Afterwards, Opposition MP Thushara Indunil addressed the parliament shortly before lunch and asked where Minister Namal Rajapaksa was as he has few comments to be made on sport and it should be done before the Minister of Sports.
