We don't believe in gossip

When the 'BBC Sinhala Service' had contacted the Minister of Public Security - Sarath Weerasekera on this regard, he has said he did not believe in such gossip and rumours.

However, if a formal complaint complete with evidence is lodged, it will be definitely investigated, he added.

Complaint against Ravi Vaidyalankara

According to the 'BBC Sinhala Service', Chamali Madanayake had lodged a complaint with the police on March 11, 2019 alleging that she had been harassed by the then chief of the FCID - Senior DIG Ravi Vaidyalankara.

It is said that she has lodged the complaint after attempting to lodge a complaint against DIG Vaidyalankara from the year 2018.

A marriage proposal

SSP Shani Abeysekera was remanded after being arrested on charges of fabricating evidence with regard to a court case against former DIG Vass Gunawardena.

He was arrested based on a complaint lodged by Inspector Irosh Wilwalaarachchi, a witness in the case of the white van abduction and murder of Mohammed Shyam -  who was a millionaire businessman from Bambalapitiya.
