Dead birds in Wanathawilluwa didn't have bird flu Featured

Investigations have revealed that the birds that had died in the Ralamaduwa paddy field of Wanathawilluwa near the Induction Zone at Wilpattu National Park border, have not contracted bird flu.

Hundreds of dead birds were found dead some days back and different species locally known as 'Sarala Vee Kurulla', 'Gela Kalu Kurulla' and 'Maha Tikiritta' were among those dead.

Veterinarian Isuru Kottegoda of the Wildlife Department told media that bio samples of the dead birds did not contain any indication that they had bird flu.

The reason for the mass death is yet to be revealed.
