The recruitment process will begin after receiving the Cabinet approval for the move.
It was revealed at a discussion held at the Justice Ministry yesterday under the patronage of Justice Minister Ali Sabry that the Police Department will select right candidates following an interview and they are also entitled to due promotions based on their skills. Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana and SSP Ruwan Gunasekera were in attendance. These Chief Inspectors are to be deployed to the police stations covering all parts of the country and a special training on the law and the police service will also to be given to them.
The Attorney General’s Department has already agreed to provide this training to them. The Justice Minister said that competency in Tamil should be considered as a special qualification and recruitment of officers with Tamil language knowledge will help build amity among all communities.
He said that these officials should also be competent in technology related matters.
