Why was Vidura absent at Nandana's tyre company opening? Featured

As the Ferentino Tyre Corporation (Pvt.) Ltd in Horana was inaugurated by president Gotabaya Rajapaksa amid much fanfare earlier this week, State Minister Vidura Wickremanayake had been notably absent.

The fact that minister Wickremanayake was absent from the opening of a tyre factory being touted by authorities as the largest in South Asia comes despite him being the Horana electorate organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and this has raised questions in political circles, reports say.

Government politicians such as Wimal Weerawansa, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Mahinda Amaraweera, Ramesh Pathirana, State Ministers Piyal Nishantha, Kanaka Herath, D.V. Chanaka and Sanjeewa Edirimanne were present at the event.

Despite being absent at the event, Mr. Wickremanayake was seen at the Kande Viharaya Temple the next day, attending a chanting of the Rathana Sutra.

An investment of US$ 100 million has been made for the first phase of the Ferentino Tyre Corporation factory, which is located in a 155-acre land of the Wagawatta BOI Industrial Zone in Horana.

The factory, complete with European machinery and technology has been invested by prominent Sri Lankan businessman - Nandana Jayadewa Lokuwithana.
