No one was forced - Prasanna
The Minister of Tourism said that no institution or site has been forced to provide access to tourists.
He said that institutions behind the highest tourist arrivals in the two years before the Covid-19 pandemic were brought in and requested to provide a methodology approved by health authorities, only if they wished to give access to tourists.
Accordingly, the Board of Trustees of the Temple of the Tooth had identified two methodologies and secured the approval of the health sector as well. Not only this site but 14 sites have been granted approval in this manner and foreigners can only visit these sites in a bio-secure bubble during the initial 14 days of their stay, the minister elaborated.
