Man granted Rs 100,000 surety for stealing 120-rupee coconut

A suspect who had stolen a Rs 120 worth coconut was granted Rs 100,000/- personal surety by the Gampaha magistrate court today.

Suspect was produced before the court by the Malwathuhiripitiya police station.

He was apprehended by the landlord and his son when he stole a coconut and later handed over to the police.

Gampaha magistrate Manjula Karunaratne ordered him to be released on bail of Rs 100,000/- personal surety.

Suspect was a resident of Nilmahara, Malwathuhiripitiya.
