Police to arrest Dhammika Bandara for attacking doctor Featured

Police have launched an investigation to arrest Dhammika Bandara who became famous for manufacturing a syrup said to be possessing anti-Covid-19 properties, 'Daily Mirror' reports.

He is facing charges of assaulting a doctor.

A doctor has lodged a complaint with the Peradeniya Police station, charging that Dhammika Bandara had assaulted him at the latter's home in Kegalle.

The doctor who works at the Peradeniya Hospital went to see Dhammika Bandara at his residence about a week ago.

It is alleged that Bandara and his aides have assaulted the doctor and those who accompanied him, following an argument.

Bandara's syrup, informally known among locals as 'Dhammika Peniya', has been much talked of late, especially after state minister Piyal Nishantha, who consumed it at the parliament complex, was tested positive a few days back.

Meanwhile, speaking at the cabinet press briefing yesterday (18), so-cabinet spokesman, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that the government has not officially promoted or sponsored the 'Dhammika Peniya'.
