It has been revealed that she has held discussions with the Health ministry's secretary - Dr. S.H. Munasinghe, Director General of Health Services - Dr. Asela Gunawardena, a group of doctors and senior officials during the last five days.
Reports also say that the minister has made a special request to her close contacts to self-isolate themselves.
Husband & daughter tested negative
However, it has been revealed that the minister's husband - Kanchana Jayaratne and their daughter have not contracted the virus, after being subjected to Rapid Antigen Tests.
It has also been confirmed that the minister's drivers and security squad members have not been infected either.
However, it is reported that the minister's family and staff are currently placed under self-isolation and while the minister's office as well as the media, nursing and examination divisions of the ministry are closed down.
The Health Minister had also attended Parliament on Jan. 19.
Parliament Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando has examined CCTV footage which had revealed that the minister was at the Parliament chamber around 3.59 pm that day before leaving around 4.40 pm.
Speaking to the 'Aruna' newspaper, Mr. Fernando had revealed there had been no close contacts at the chamber.
It is yet to be known how the minister had contracted the virus. However, there are doubts whether she had caught it at the ministry as 09 persons from the nursing and examination divisions were tested positive recently.
The minister was among the members of Parliament who had taken the infamous 'Dhammika Peniya' in public. The concoction, made by one Dhammika Bandara from Kegalle, is said to contain anti- Covid-19 properties. State minister - Piyal Nishantha, who had also taken the concoction, was tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
