Ratnayake took the decision at a meeting of a ministerial level committee inquiring into political victimizations during the previous regime.
It was chaired by Ranjith Maddumabandara and attended by Ratnayake as well as Kabir Hashim, secretaries to the law and order and public administration ministries and UNP trade union representatives.
It transpired at the meeting that the list didn’t contain politically-victimized personnel, but those who are loyal to the top police officials who had formulated the report.
The cabinet has approved granting promotions and compensation for 323 police officers who were politically-victimized during the Rajapaksa regime.
They had applied following newspaper advertisements, but top officials had changed the list and included their loyalists into the report.
This has been challenged by four cases filed in the court of appeal.
