7 CDF personnel at Feb. 04 parade, test Covid-19 positive Featured

Seven Civil Defense Force personnel who had been quarantined at the CDF Advanced Training School in Galkiriyagama, have been infected with Covid-19, reports say.

They were admitted to the Dambulla Base Hospital after suddenly falling ill and Rapid Antigen Tests have revealed that six of them had contracted the virus, Palagala Health Officer Dr. Narendra Premaratne said.

These CDF personnel had also participated in the Independence Day parade held at the Independence Square in Colombo on Feb. 4th.

Moreover, another 50 soldiers who are being quarantined at the Civil Defense Force Training School in Galkiriyagama have been reported to have Covid-19 symptoms and were subjected to PCR tests today (07), Dr. Premaratne stated.

Out of them, 10 soldiers were admitted to Anuradhapura and Dambulla hospitals due to breathing difficulties. Rapid Antigen Tests have further revealed that one soldier out of those who were admitted to the Dambulla hospital had also contracted Covid-19.

Around 140 soldiers of the Civil Defense Force have been quarantined at the Galkiriyagama Training School after attending the Independence Day celebrations.
