Covid-19 burials will be allowed - PM

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has stated that burials will be allowed for deceased Covid-19 patients.

He was responding to opposition MP - S.M. Marikkar, who was questioning in parliament as to why burials were still not permitted even after State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID Disease Control, (Dr.) Sudarshini Fernandopulle announced in Parliament yesterday (09) that Covid-19 does not spread through water.

Although Speaker Mahinda Abeygunawardena had brushed him off for raising an 'unnecessary question' during a debate, PM Mahinda Rajapaksa had answered the question, stating burials will be permitted.
So far, authorities have remained firm that remains of all fatal Covid-19 cases must be cremated and the move has been severely criticised locally and internationally.
