Cardinal ready to go to int Courts over Easter attacks

Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith says he is prepared to go to international Courts if the law is not enforced in a stringent manner against persons responsible for the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.

Speaking during a media briefing at the Archbishop’s House Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said he did not receive the report compiled by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate the Easter attacks, despite requesting a copy from the President.

His Eminence said it was important to name the perpetrators of such a coordinated attack to the public, and stressed on the need for a copy of the report to be shared with the Archdiocese.

The Archbishop of Colombo said he trusted the country’s leaders to refrain from prompting him to seek international intervention.

The Cardinal added he was awaiting the government’s response over the report.
