Trial against Champika fixed for May 31 Featured

Colombohigh court judge today(08) fixed trial againstformer Minister and Samagi Jana Balawegaya parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka and 02 others over the 2016 hit-and-run case in Rajagiriya on May 31FormerMinister Ranawaka, his then-driver Dilum Thusitha Kumara, and ASP SudathAsmadala have been charged with fabricating and concealingevidence.

The case was called before the Colombo High Court judge Damith Thotawatta thismorning (March 08).

The case was filed over the allegedhit-and-run incident which took place on February 28, 2016, in which thevehicle the former Megapolis and Western Province Development Minister wastraveling in collided against a motorcycle in Rajagiriya, causinglife-threatening injuries to its rider, Sandeep Sampath Gunawardena.

The judge also ordered to produce theparticular vehicle in the courts on May 31, after the counsels appearing forthe plaintiff stated the vehicle in which Ranwaka travelled now being usedby the Finance Ministry.
