"We have lost many things just because of committing ourselves in an honest manner to serve the public of this country. My house was broken by some thieves after I raised my voice on certain social issues recently."
"I have already lost one of my eyes, my father and the husband. So, I don't want to lose my only son," Chandrika said in a statement referring to alleged reports circulated on social media and mass media.
In her statement, Chandrika says some mass media and social media are spreading false news that she is trying to bring her son into politics.
She said those media are referring to a recent interview she had with a Youtube channel.
"I never made such a statement," she said, adding that what she said was that "he(her son) would make his contribution if the young people of this country come forward to build this country. I have no hesitation in him doing that. That's not taking political leadership."
