Govt. revises decision to pause vaccination drive

The decision to suspend the first phase of Sri Lanka’s coronavirus vaccination drive has been revised, reports say.

Head of the Epidemiology Unit Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said that during a discussion held at the Health Ministry today (02), it was decided to continue the vaccination drive and will focus on persons over the age of 60 in high risk areas.

Dr. Samaraweera added that they will announce at a later date pertaining to the commencement of administering the second vaccine dose to those who have already been inoculated.

Yesterday, State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and Covid Disease Control - Sudarshini Fernandopulle had stated that the Covid-19 vaccination process has been temporarily halted since March 31.
