Siripala & Amaraweera refuse to step down from govt. Featured

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has imposed strong pressure on its members to withdraw from the government, citing step motherly treatment to its members and regional leaders in the hands of bigwigs from the ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

This discussion has taken place during the first SLFP committee meeting after the appointment of new members.

It was pointed out that none of its members were given construction contracts to any part of the 100,000km-road development project.

However, ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva and Mahinda Amaraweera had pointed out that they are not prepared to step down from the government based on such a non-political issue.

However, if the SLFP decides to step away from the government, they would do the same, they have added.

They have both said that leaving the government was a political matter and leaving on a political issue would lead to the respect of their party supporters as well.
