Easter blasts victims file 27 lawsuits demanding compensation

Twenty seven lawsuits have been filed in the Colombo District Courts, by those injured in the Easter Sunday blasts and the relatives of those killed, demanding compensation for their physical and as well as mental losses and damages suffered by them.
They have pointed out that they had to suffer immense physical and mental losses and damages due to the failure to avert this disaster despite clear intelligence information.
The petitioners have cited former president Maithripala Sirisena, former prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, former defense secretary Hemasiri Fernando, former Inspector General of Police Pujitha Jayasundara and former head of State Intelligence Service Nilantha Jayawardena as respondents.
The petitioners claim that defense authorities had received clear intelligence information on the attack before it happened.
