On a recommendation by a specialist, Fatima Azmi had been accepted by the hospital yesterday (11), but she had been taken to the surgical theatre without any registration done.
It is believed the injections and medicines given her prior to the surgery had become allergic, causing her death.
Following her death, relatives surrounded the private hospital and police protection had to be given.
Prof. Arjuna Aluvihare says the woman had been given two medicines prior to surgery.
The hospital’s doctor says she had been sent directly to the surgical theatre without admitting her to a ward with the hope of discharging her a few hours after surgery, as a cost-cutting measure.
The doctor has said that he would not evade responsibility in her death.
