Godahewa rules out a total lockdown Featured

State Minister of Urban Development and Coast Conservation Dr. Nalaka Godahewa has ruled out a total lockdown, but stated that the government was committed to tackle the threat by isolating selected areas.
"Always we have to look at both sides of the coin. If we go for a lockdown, would 100 per cent agree to that. Majority of the people need to continue with their livelihoods.
Restrictions should be done carefully with minimum impacts to their livelihoods. That's why selected lockdowns are enforced in necessary areas.
"We could have easily taken a decision to lock down the entire country. But that creates problems to many people and their livelihoods get disrupted."
Godahewa made these comments when he inspected the ongoing construction work of a treatment center in Yakkala, Gampaha, according to a nws report in The Island newspaper.
