President Rajapaksa requests AstraZeneca from Congo president

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is reported to have sent a letter to president of Republic of Congo Sassou Nguesso, making him an offer to buy a surplus stock of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines being stored there.
Deshaya newspaper reports that Sri Lanka's ambassador in Congo has personally met the president of Congo and handed him over the letter.
The letter has stated that Sri Lankan government's intention is to ensure that Sri Lankans who received the AstraZeneca as their first be given the same vaccine as their second dose.
Congo has a surplus of 13 million AstraZeneca vaccines.
Apart from that, Sri Lanka has made requests from China, Japan, Australia and USA.
