No condition for a hybrid court’ Featured

The UNHRC has not laid down a condition that a hybrid court should be established for Sri Lanka to be given a two year extended period to act with regard to war crimes accusations, says minister Lakshman Kiriella.

No such agreement has been reached, pursuant to the consensus reached on 30 January 2015, and no amendment had been introduced to the sixth paragraph of that agreement as claimed by some, he says.

Obtaining foreign advice and assistance for a local judicial process is possible at any time, he says, adding that even the country’s constitution does not allow the establishment of a hybrid court.
