Committee report in 4 days on Gampaha floods

A committee comprising key government officials that was appointed to analyze the recent floods in the Gampaha district will examine how far the construction of the Central expressway had contributed to the flash floods that occurred last week.
The committee headed by Gampaha district secretary Sunil Jayalath comprises officials from the highways and irrigation ministry officials. The committee is expected to hand over it's report within four days.
People in Gampaha complain that the flash floods occurred due to the ongoing expressway constructions that have blocked waterways as pilot roads are being built across paddy fields.
The government ministers too have expressed the necessity to evaluate the construction work of the expressway in order to prevent floods in the future.
