Rohini says Central Bank compelled to follow orders from economic hit men

The Central Bank has been compelled to adhere to the instructions of the economic hit men, instead of implementing the advice of professionals, said SJB MP Rohini Kaviratne.

Besides, Sri Lankan government has been compelled to buy petrol and diesel at much higher prices as no bidders came forward to accept the bids put forward by the government to import fuel, she said.

She accused that the government has ruined the economy and that " well-educated economists at the Central Bank are compelled to take instructions from people who have no knowledge on the economy."

"Without paying attention to the advice of the economists, the Central Bank has to listen to the so-called instructions of the economic hit men," said Kaviratne at a public meeting in Matale.
