New package to attract flights to MRIA

A new package will be introduced to the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) in a bid to attract more flights and tourists, minister of Tourism - Prasanna Ranatunga says.

In late September, Cabinet approval was granted to a resolution submitted by the minister to release the airport immigration tax for two (02) years from the date of inauguration of the operations by international aviation companies and to award discounts for the next 04 years on landing and parking charges with the objective of promoting MRIA operations.

Accordingly, the minister says that it has been planned to operate around 06 cargo flights a week at the airport in the near future.
