26 Lankans without visa deported from Kuwait

Twenty six Sri Lankans working as domestic aides in Kuwait without visa, have been deported.

They arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake early today (08) morning.

According to the Sri Lankan embassy in Kuwait, these 26 Sri Lankans are a portion of over a list 2,000 persons working as domestic aides in Kuwait that have been registered at the embassy to be sent back to Sri Lanka.

The embassy notes that the remaining number will also be sent back in groups.

The embassy has also taken measures to intervene with Kuwaiti authorities to address any legal redress taken against these women and to provide air tickets to those who require as such.
