Shiraz Younus arrested for using PM's name

The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement yesterday (03) that Shiraz Younus has not been given any post in the Prime Minister's Office although Younus has released a video on his Facebook page stating that he is Mahinda Rajapaksa's Muslim National Coordinator.

He explains that he is the Muslim Affairs Coordinator of Mahinda Rajapaksa (former President and current Prime Minister) and has never said that he was attached to the Prime Minister's Office.

However, Rohan Weliwita said in a statement issued yesterday (03) that Shiraz Younus is not the Coordinating Secretary to the Prime Minister and has not been given such a post by the Prime Minister's Office.

The statement added that the PM's office had no involvement with the statements made by Shiraz Younus claiming to be the Muslim Affairs Coordinating Secretary to the Prime Minister.

He was also not given any post by the Prime Minister's Office, the Prime Minister's Media Unit said.

His statements are completely personal and neither the current Prime Minister nor the Prime Minister's Office approves of those comments.

"SLPP will lost any forthcoming election"

Meanwhile, he had recently posted a video on his Facebook page saying that the SLPP would be defeated in any upcoming election.

Younus has recently given interviews to several YouTube channels in which he appeared as the Prime Minister's Coordinator for Muslim Affairs.

Police have arrested several people earlier who used the name of the Prime Minister and Minister Namal Rajapaksa, and there is a rumor that Younus will also be arrested in the future.
