Senior Journalist and Political Analyst - Kusal Perera has said, this displays the massive bankruptcy of our entire education system. Though widely campaigned to elect "educated" people to parliament to develop the country, Snr.Journalist Perera says there are such "educated" persons already in parliament.
"Educated" is a questiobale category and to speak about the present "educated" persons, one has to first find an alternative term to refer to them, he says. May be a term like "certificated person" for those who have passed an examination in a particular subject area, instead of "educated", he suggests.
Secondly, a broader social discourse is required immediately to bring in comprehensive educational reforms to create truly educated persons, in the fullest sense of the word, he adds.
