SJB to move no-faith motion against Basil! Featured

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has to take measures to move a no-confidence motion against Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa in Parliament.

This is against the collapse of the country's economy and the Finance minister's failure to inform Parliament about the country's economy.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', General Secretary of the SJB - Ranjith Maddumabandara said internal discussions in this regard are already underway.

Affiliated parties to discuss

He added that a final decision will be reached after discussions with other affiliated political parties.

Meanwhile, Tamil Progressive Front MP - Mano Ganeshan states that the Finance minister has not submitted any report to the Parliament on the financial situation of the country since December 10, 2021.

Therefore, the SJB has proposed to take some action against him, he noted, adding that SJB affiliated parties are to meet in the next few days to discuss this matter.

Present govt. borrowed 08 trillion!

Meanwhile, JVP Propaganda secretary - Vijitha Herath stated that the SJB has not informed his party about any no-confidence motion against Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Noting that they are ever ready to take up the country's reins to salvage it from the current economic crisis, Mr. Herath said that the production cycle should be strengthened at this junction to strengthen the economy.

Noting that the country's foreign debt would be around US$ 21 trillion by the end of this year, he added that it was singular that US$ 8 trillion was obtained during the tenure of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The main issue when overcoming the current crisis, is the lack of foreign exchange, he said.

He said that the SJB has a clear plan to increase forex reserves.
