According to the same sources, tenders have already been called for the purchase of petrol, diesel and gas for the month of July.
The government believes that the fuel queues currently experienced, would be resolved within the next 3-4 days.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said that the required petrol and diesel stocks have currently been received.
“I believe that this fuel crisis could be resolved to a considerable extent within the next couple of days.”
Yesterday (20), petrol stocks were unloaded from two ships that arrived in the country carrying 76,000 metric tons.
Accordingly, it is reported that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is planning to distribute petrol to many parts of the country, including the outstations, today.
Meanwhile, diesel stocks are being distributed since yesterday.
