Another obstacle for the 21A

Although the Cabinet has approved the 21st Amendment to the Constitution, it is reported that a crisis has arisen regarding the appointment of representatives to the Legislative Council.

The crisis has arisen over the appointment of government and civil society representatives to the legislative Council.

However, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to further discuss the matter as several proposals had been received regarding this issue.

In addition to the President, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, a Member of the Government is nominated to the Legislative Council.

A proposal has been made to give the “Member of the Government” opportunity to all political parties representing the government.

It has been suggested that the opportunity of the Member of Parliament nominated by the Opposition should be given to the parties representing the Opposition as well as the minority parties.

These proposals have also been put forward by the President.

The 21st Amendment, which was approved by the Cabinet, is due to be gazetted this week.
