The Crime Division of the Wattala police has arrested 03 persons over robbing the house belonging to the sister of Sports Minister – Harin Fernando.
The arrests were made last night (Jan. 07).
Security camera footage has shown that a male involved had broken into the house on Jan. 02 and lingered there for around 02 hours before robbing jewellery worth over Rs. 11,340,000.
The male suspect is identified as a 47 year old linked to a host of crimes.
He had handed over the stolen jewellery to his daughter who in return, had handed them over to her mother. The mother had handed them over to one of her friends for safekeeping, feigning that the jewellery belonged to her daughter.
Three gold bangles sold have also been traced, police say.
All three suspects are to be produced before the Wattala Magistrate court today (Jan. 08).
