Namal working to topple govt. ; Basil to strengthen SLPP

It is reported that stiff disapproval has been received to a request made by MP Namal Rajapaksa to 10 parties that quit the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to function independently in parliament.
The MP has requested their assistance to overthrow Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe's government and to form a new government, the 'Aruna' newspaper reports.

This request has been made by Namal through former minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara.

It is said that Nanayakkara had conveyed the request during a discussion of these 10 parties which had met with stiff opposition.

The MPs had said, " they too are responsible for this crisis."

Meanwhile, SLPP founder  and former minister - Basil Rajapaksa has told his close associates not to be afraid and that a SLPP government will be formed soon.

During a discussion, he said that the party will strengthen itself at the grassroots level so that it can contest at any future elections.
