He said that the Defence Secretary had issued this letter on the 27th of June.
As a result, it has been reported that the foreigners staying in the north have been notified not to participate in any celebrations.
Bandara also requested the Deputy Speaker to look into the matter immediately, as the letter also indicates that there is a risk of an attack on the homes of the politicians.
Nalin Bandara said that such a letter had been received prior to the Easter attacks, adding that as such attention should be paid regarding the warning.
“This is a matter of national security. Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne has sent a letter on the 27th warning of a serious matter similar to the Easter attack. He has mentioned that during the Black Tigers commemoration on July 05th and 06th there is a plot by a foreign intelligence service to carry out a bomb attack or other destructive act in the North, East or South of the country and blame it on the LTTE.
Already the Terrorism Investigation Units have warned those working in foreign establishments in Jaffna and other VIPs asking them not to attend any functions on the 05th and 06th. I will table the relevant letter by the Defence Secretary.
The letter also notes that there could be attacks on the homes of politicians including provincial council members. Are they planning to oppress us or is this a real situation? Such a letter was issued even before the Easter attacks. Hence, I urge you to focus attention regarding this latter,” Bandara noted.
