No UNP position for Fonseka at WC meeting

Minister Sarath Fonseka was not given a top party position at today’s (08) meeting of the UNP working committee.

The media had reported that he would be one of the assistant leaders to be appointed at the meeting.

However, minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe has vehemently opposed such a move, warning that he would take a firm decision after Vesak.

Media chief at Sirikotha Sudath Chandrasekara said the WC meeting today only dealt with the party’s reorganizing work.

After the meeting, prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, accompanied by ministers Malik Samarawickrama and Kabir Hashim, went to meet president Maithripala Sirisena, reports say.
