ACF chairman Ven. Ulapane Sumangala Thera told the media yesterday (16) that building no. 288 at Sri Jayewardenepura Road, Kotte, referred to as ‘Sabeetha’s building’ by the public, was obtained for the ministry on a paper submitted by the PM to the cabinet on 17 February 2016.
Cabinet approval was given for the building on 02 March 2016.
The PM has proposed that ‘Govijana Mandiraya’, the building where there ministry is located at present, be handed over to parliament.
Wickremesinghe is paying a monthly rent of Rs. 23.5 million from public money to the building of his crony without using it, and is also paying an electricity bill for it which is higher than for ‘Govijana Mandiraya.’
Sumangala Thera said this wasteful expenditure of public money should be stopped by annulling agreement to rent the building for the Agricultural Ministry.
