Govt. will not dance to Vigneswaran’s tunes - Fonseka

The government is not prepared to dance to the tunes of north chief minister C.V. Vigneswaran, and the military will not be withdrawn from the province as he demands, says minister Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka.

The minister is responding to a CM’s remark that a day will dawn soon when the people of the north will take to the streets demanding the military’s withdrawal.

Vigneswaran was speaking at a remembrance for those who died at Vellamullivaikkal in Mullaitivu.

In response, Fonseka told a media briefing at Kiribathgoda Hospital on May 20 that the north CM was dreaming, his politics would evaporate and hopes would not be fulfilled.

Commenting on the shooting incident in Kilinochchi on May 19, he said the media was exaggerating such incidents in the north, but shootings did occur in Piliyandala and Kalutara too, recently.

He accused certain ministers of criticizing the government while remaining its members, and strongly that such persons should be expelled.
