Ravi told to meet foreign leaders if he wants to be country’s leader! Featured

Ravi Karunanayake and Mangala Samaraweera today (22) switched their cabinet positions, after prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe explained to Karunanayake that it would be important for him to meet with foreign leaders if he intended to become the country’s leader in the future, 'LankaeNews' website reports.

Karunanayake was calmed down by the PM at a meeting of UNP ministers at Temple Trees last night (21), after having said previously that he would not accept any ministerial position other than finance, as reported by 'LankaNewsWeb'.

Foreign policy’s focus on economic upliftment

Meanwhile, the president and the PM have agreed that the country’s foreign policy should focus on economic upliftment, and budget 2018 is to be prepared accordingly.

Hence, the decision to appoint Karunanayake as the foreign minister, also on the basis of the new relations created with other countries after the new government took office.

SLM predicted their positions to be switched

Sri Lanka Mirror is the first website to report on March 11, quoting ‘Sathhanda’ newspaper, that the cabinet positions of Karunanayake and Samaraweera would be switched.
