Jaffna undergrads aid south’s flood-hit schoolchildren Featured

A group of students from Jaffna University on June 02 made a trip via Colombo to the flood-hit Molkawa Maha Vidyalaya in Kukule Ganga and handed over educational equipment for more than 400 schoolchildren.

Soon after their arrival in Colombo, the undergraduates informed the Army’s chief of staff and former Jaffna security forces commander Maj. Gen. Mahesh Senanayake about their mission.

Led by Maj. Gen. Senanayake, members of the Army coordinated the purchase of the educational school equipment for the school with around Rs. 500,000 collected by the Jaffna university students.

The students then visited Molkawa Maha Vidyalaya and handed over the school equipment.

Assisted by the IPSOTSL at Kukule Ganga, Maj. Gen. Senanayake also coordinated food and accommodation, transportation requirements of the Jaffna university students during their stay.
