Lankan cricketers narrowly escaped London attack? Featured

During the terrorist attack last Saturday at the Borough Market near the famous London bridge, several cricketers from the Sri Lankan squad were at the London city  for their dinner, according to informed sources.

It is said that the management had immediately summoned the players back to the hotel the moment news of the attack was received.

As the meals provided at the hotel lack variation, the players had been in the habit of venturing to the city to taste the variety of cuisines. However, after the attacks, the management had banned the players from leaving the hotel.  

The attacks took place on Saturday, the day the match between Sri Lanka and South Africa was held and according to foreign media reports, the attack took place between around 10 and 11 pm.

It is also reported that the distance between the hotel where the Sri Lanka team is staying and the attack area is less than a kilometre.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan team came under attack in Pakistan previously in which several players sustained injuries.

Prior to the attack in London, players were only given protection while travelling in the team bus, but after the attack security for the players have been tightened, according to sources in England.
