Will not give into Geneva pressure – govt.

The government has decided against giving into the dictates of the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva hereafter, and appointed a ministerial committee to coordinate with the global body, say government sources.

On the instructions of prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the cabinet yesterday (20) named Ravi Karunanayake, Wijedasa Rajapakshe, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Susil Premajayantha and several others as members of the committee.

All these ministers are reportedly opposed to the Geneva proposals.
