State Minister of Higher Education Dr. Suren Raghavan says 36 incidents of ragging of similar events have been reported from state universities in the country in the past 12 months.
He added that 57 students have been suspended in this regard.
Speaking during a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information this morning (18), the State Minister said ragging incidents have reduced considerably at all 17 state universities and have no place in modern society.
He said the ragging culture should be eliminated from the university system altogether.
Dr. Raghavan also added that measures have been taken to set up an anti ragging national committee.
