The initial discussion in this regard was held last Thursday under the patronage of the Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Sangha Sabha Most Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thera at the Mount Lavinia Dharmapalaramaya.
It was at this meeting that the proposal to initiate a discourse regarding the threats and statements made by certain persons and organisations against the Buddhist monks was discussed.
Accordingly it is learnt that this proposal has already gained the approval of the Siyam Nikaya, Asgiri and Malwathu chapters, Rohana chapter and the Amarapura Sangha Sabha.
The discourse with the participation of the Chief Prelates and the Maha Sangha is scheduled to be compiled in the near future.

Expressing his views on the issue, the Chief Sangha Nayaka of the Southern quarter of the Ramagngna Nikaya, Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera said, “All members of the Sangha Sabha of the three Nikhayas will jointly address the issue of anti-Buddhist programmes.
Yesterday, the Sri Lanka Ramagngna Nikaya issued a statement condemning the attempts made by certain parties to brand the Buddhist monks and people as extremists.
The said statement was issued subsequent to the Sangha Sabha meeting of the Ramagngna Nikayameeting that was held yesterday.
Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera said it was decided to notify the government to act impartially in this issue.
