The government has found that their backward approach when taking decisions has led to the problems.
A women-majority public service is the result of state universities having mostly females as their students, and their choosing the public service for a career.
At a women’s day function, labour minister W.D.J. Seneviratne said women comprise 60 per cent of the public service workforce.
Seventy five pc of the 15,000 management recruits and 70 pc of the 5,000 Grama Seva officers are women, he said.
Meanwhile, minister Patali Champika Ranawaka says 90 pc of the workforce in the public service would be women in the coming decade if this situation persists.
