Udayanga Weeratunga’s passports suspended Featured

The diplomatic passport and another passport belonging to former ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga have been suspended.

Colombo Fort magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered the suspension pursuant to submissions made by the FCID today (30)

Police are investigating Weeratunga under the money laundering act over the MiG deal, but he has fled the country.

The court has previously issued a warrant for his arrest, and Interpol assistance too, has been sought in that regard.

At the cabinet meeting on June 27, prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said Weeratunga’s passport should immediately be suspended.
